Obituary of Robert Charles Mackintosh

In Memory of Rob Mackintosh

1947-2020

Surrounded by his loving family, Rob Mackintosh passed away peacefully on December 27th in London. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 52 years, Jackie; his children, Sean Mackintosh (Maria) and Carrie Mailloux (Dean); and his grandchildren Gabriella, Jackson, Andrew, Luke, Hannah and Morgan who affectionally called him Popa.

It’s through his grandchildren Rob will continue to live on. They were his greatest treasures and he passed on the most beautiful gifts of compassion, curiosity, creativity and his love of music.

Rob was a proud graduate of the Beal art program and started his own successful graphic design business in 1974. He also shared his design talents as a part time teacher at Fanshawe College in the early '80s.  In his retirement Rob reconnected with his love for painting, fine art and photography.

Growing up across the street from the Moncton airport fueled Rob’s fascination with aviation.  He would sneak over to watch the planes take off and land.  When he turned 50, he realized a lifelong dream and earned his private pilot’s license with the London Flying Club.

Music was everything to Rob.  The soundtrack of his life included '60s and '70s music and especially any Beatles song (minus Yoko).  From an early age he played guitar and sang in many bands.  Over the last few years he continued to play the local bar scene in a reunion band with lifelong band brothers Rob Wilson and Fred Parry.  Their friendship meant the world to him.

Rob will be missed by many including his siblings, Gord (Alyce), Joan, Pam (Kevin) and Donnie; as well as his Hatherell family (Ray, Sharon, Wayne, Jeff, Brian and Terry) and his loving cousins from the Kitchener area. Predeceased by his parents Donald and Pauline Joyce Mackintosh.

A celebration of life is planned for summer 2021. In lieu of flowers, you might consider a donation to the London Regional Cancer Program (519-685-8409) which was very important to Rob during his 6 year battle with cancer.
