Anne Schimanski

Anne Schimanski, of London, passed away peacefully at Middlesex Terrace, on Friday, January 15, 2021 in her 89th year. Anne was born in London on August 20, 1932, the oldest child to her parents Michael and Karolina Zaranik.  Anne and her siblings, Michael, Stephen and Susan lost their father at a young age, when he was killed in action at Monte Cassino in May of 1944.  In 1958, Anne married the love of her life, John Schimanski, and together they had three children: Caroline, Frank, and Suzanne.  Anne was a stay at home Mom until her youngest daughter started high school; she then became the crossing guard for Blessed Sacrament Separate School, helping children cross Oxford Street.  Anne was a devoted parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Parish prior to its closure.  She also loved her miniature schnauzers, bingo and classic movies.  After her husband John passed away in 1988, Anne suffered some health issues, causing her mobility to decline, which limited her interactions with others. Anne suffered further heartache, when her youngest daughter Suzanne passed away in 2006.

Anne is survived by her daughter Caroline and her husband Alan Palmer, her son Frank and his wife Jennie Schimanski, her grandchildren: Brian and his wife Jennifer Palmer, Shannon Palmer and her fiancĂ© Marc Przewieda, Ami and her husband Tim Hendry, Elli and her husband Kevin Stenson, and her great grandsons Joel and James.

Due to COVID restrictions, a family graveside service was held at St. Peter’s Cemetery officiated by Father Murray Sample.

We would like extend our thanks and appreciation to the staff at Middlesex Terrace, especially Jessica and Emilia, for the care and compassion you provided to our Mom in her final days.

Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Anne are asked to consider the Humane Society London & Middlesex or the Canadian Mental Health Association.
