Vesna Rajic

Vesna Rajic died peacefully on Thursday, November 16, 2023 in London, Ontario, Canada, at age of 74.

Vesna will be dearly missed by her sister Andrijana Rajic, brother Ante Rajic and his family, aunt Angelina Petrovski and her family, first cousin Jozo and his family, second cousin Jagoda Topic and her family, and other family (Rajic, Zovko, Pervan and Raguz) members.

Vesna (baptised and confirmed as Maria) was the firstborn to Katica (nee Pervan) and Tadija on December 08, 1948. She completed elementary school and classical high school in her city of birth, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Vesna completed Faculty of Philosophy – major in Croatian language and Slavic literature. She worked as a teacher in many elementary and high schools in Sarajevo and Croatia, she was adored by her students.

Vesna moved to Canada, along with her sister Andrijana on Dec. 13, 1995. She worked as an early-child educator in Edmonton, Canada and as a personal care worker in Guelph.

Vesna felt strongly about her roots in Hercegovina, river Neretva, and the mountains surrounding her birth city, and great respect for her ‘new country’ Canada.

She was a modest, caring and lovely human being, and the best sister and friend in the world.

Her passions were figure skating events, the art of written words, her students, solid rock music and live concerts, and social gatherings around good espresso. She enjoyed coffee with her friends Jelena Kljucevic and family, Jovica Stanivuk and his family, Ljiljana Markovic and her family, Sadeta Stanivuk and her family and Nelly van Dyke.

Visitation will be held at Northview Funeral Chapel, 1490 Highbury Avenue North, London on Monday, November 20, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. with burial to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Father Ivica Majstorovic.

After the graveside service, there will be a funeral mass and short gathering celebrating Vesna’s life at the St. Leopold Mandic Church, 2889 Westminster Drive, London,

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to food banks would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
