Velma Iolene Hillis

January 29, 2025

Passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family, at University Hospital, on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, in her 98th year.  Beloved wife of 70 years to the late Delbert Hillis (2019).  Dear mother of Donna Acres (Richard) and Doug (Marjory).  Loving Grandma of Charlene, Paul (Vicki) and Susan (Matt).  Also loved by her six great-grandchildren and her sister Anne McRoberts (the late Earl).   Velma was born in London Township to the late Gordon and Nellie Wilson.  She was predeceased by her brothers Ken (Helen), Bill (Bev), Glenn, and her sister Shirley.

The family would like to thank the Palliative Care Unit at University Hospital for their compassionate care at her journey’s end. And a HUGE show of appreciation to the staff and residence of Kensington Retirement Village for making mom’s later years a welcoming community to live in. Thank you.

The funeral service will be conducted at Northview Funeral Chapel, 1490 Highbury Avenue North, London, on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. with visitation two hours prior.  Interment at Siloam Cemetery.

Donations to Dundas Street United Church – the Good Samaritan Cupboard or the charity of your choice in memory of Velma would be appreciated by the family.
