Ruth Marritt Hartley (née Nichols)

Peacefully with her family by her side, Ruth Hartley of London, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospice, London on Thursday, September 28, 2023 in her 89th year.

Beloved wife of Willard Hartley for over 66 wonderful years. Loving Mother of Kevin Hartley (Cheryl Wright) and Karen Bethell (Joe Nogueira). Loving Grandmother of Ashley Ingram (Mike), Nicole Nogueira (Jeff Clifford), Jason Nogueira, and Rebecca Hartley. Great Grandmother of Madison and Maxwell Ingram, and Emma Clifford. Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews Mary Vanderwal (Bert, 2022), Leslie Nichols (Mary), Glen Nichols (Louise), Carole Gaato, and Robin Barker (Sheila). Sister -in-law of Wayne Hartley (Carolyn). Predeceased by her parents Freeman and Pearl Nichols, her brother Lloyd Nichols (Helen), and her sister Edna Barker (Ray).

Honouring Ruth’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or formal funeral service. A private interment of her cremated remains will be held at Melville United Church Cemetery, Ivan, Ontario, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Ruth’s honour to St. Joseph’s Hospice, London, or to Melville United Church, Ivan.
