Robert Howard Andrew Stead
February 24, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Robert Howard Andrew Stead at home, on February 24, 2025, with the angels around him at the age of 92. Beloved husband of Marlene Stead (Paquet) for 72 years. Lovingly and proudly remembered as father to Craig, Darryl (Cathy), Lorraine (Steve) Miletic and special daughter and sister, Kate, as the best dad ever. He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren Adam (Jana), Brent, Andrew (Kim), Matthew (Courtney), Jason (Hanna), Stephanie (Peter), Sarah (William) and Sean and by his eight great-grandchildren Rowan, Rose, Liam, Finnegan (Finn), Emily, Jamie, Alva and Daphne. Bob was born on the family farm on April 30th, 1932, on the Sixth Concession of London Township and it is there on the same property and in the home that he built that he passed into eternity. Predeceased by his parents John and Bertha Stead and brothers Gordon (Maybelle), Jack (Irene) and infant sister, Gladys Irene. Bob worked for many years as a railway engineer on Canadian Pacific Railway and enjoyed the camaraderie of his many close friends. During his retirement he enjoyed time in his workshop and gardens. He was an avid and talented woodworker, could build or fix anything and was always willing to lend a hand. He enjoyed travelling and cherished many memorable road trips in the motorhome with Marlene and the family but he especially loved being a devoted and caring husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa and always had time for each and every one. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be taking place at St. John the Divine Anglican Church, 21557 Richmond Street, London (Arva), Ontario on Saturday, March 8 at 2:00 p.m. A private family interment will be held at St. Peter’s Cemetery, London, Ontario at a later date. The family wishes to express their gratitude for care and support provided by devoted caregivers, Donna Paton and Joan Gerber, Dr. Baraa Achtar for his dedicated and kind support and the staff of Parkwood and University Hospitals and Dr. Thompson, Diabetic Foot Specialist. We are so impressed by the home support from the Ontario Health at Home team, the VON and Closing the Gap. Eternal gratitude to our caregiver angels: “sister” Vivian C., Manu, Amisha, Hiwet, Debra, Vishnu, Simon, Tracy, Alex, Fleming, Sibin, Thomas, Nikko, Noel, Humphrey, Donny, Josh, Jasbir, Andrew OT, Rushita PT, Ama, Oma, Olu, Sunny, Teresa, Graham and everyone at Stoneybrook Rexall and countless others who cared for our family on Bob’s final journey. Expressions of sympathy in Bob’s name may be made to Diabetes Canada.

Many fond memories of Bob. Never a dull moment went I'd be called for a trip with Bob. A man of intelligence and service who knew how to contribute to and enjoy a good conversation. Whenever I drove by Sunnybrook road I thought of Bob Stead. Thanks for the memories and glad you wrung your money out of the CPR for so many years.😊❤️

Dad, We will always love you. You are forever in our hearts. Thank you for always being there for us and for being the best father, grandfather and great-grandfather in the world. You always gave so much but asked for so little. With heavy hearts, Lorrie, Steve and family
