Kathleen Mary Higham

February 9, 2025

On the evening of February 9th, 2025, Kathleen Mary HIGHAM (née Gilbert), (91), of London, Ontario, daughter of Kathleen and George Gilbert (Preston, England), passed away peacefully with family and friends at her side, accompanied by the soothing sounds of her favourite music. Kathleen’s strength, loyalty, and joyful heart will be sorely missed.

She worked in public service for most of her career and retired after many years with Revenue Canada.  Kathleen’s passion was travel and she enjoyed countless holidays with her daughters, sister (Jean Halliwell) and friend (Joyce Mathers).

Kathleen is survived by her children Kenneth, Susan and Pamela, her grand-daughter Amanda and her great grandson Greyson.  She is predeceased by her parents, husband (John Higham) and son (Peter Higham).

Kathleen was lovingly cared for at Henley Place in London. A heartfelt thank you to staff Stacey, Joanne, Merlie, Karen, Walid and so many others for their care and compassion while looking after Kathleen for the last 5 years.

It was a pleasure to have both Kathleen and her family at Henley place. Kathleen always had a wonderful smile and positive energy. And Her Family was always involved at Henley and supported anyway they could. They will all be missed but never forgotten

Dear Mom, Although your presence is physically no longer with me, your spirit will forever be in my heart. We had some great times, didn’t we? Remember when we used to, on Friday or Saturday nights, in the 80’s watch a show or movie on TV with some cheese and crackers, and oh that ever so sweet Baby Duck! My memories are filled with the fun and laughter we had, and with you by my side during the tough times. We went to see some very prominent musical artists – Liberace and Cliff Richard come to mind. There were the many craft shows we visited; the Saturday train trips to Toronto to visit the Eaton Centre in its heyday, or just sitting in the backyard shooting the breeze. But life was not always “wine and roses” for you. Your Northern England upbringing weathered you through the trials and tribulations with the strength and courage to carry on. That strength and courage was instilled in all your children, and for that we are grateful. This is not a goodbye, but a “see you later”. I raise my glass to you Mom, to celebrate your life and to thank you for everything you gave and taught me to make me who I am today. Love, Sue

My sincere condolences to Kathleen's family. I worked with Kathleen at Canada Revenue Agency. She was such a lovely soul. I never saw but heard about her Christmas Village, which must have been beautiful . She will be truly missed by her family and friends.

I'm so sorry to learn of Kathleen's passing. I worked with her at Canada Revenue Agency. I always enjoyed a chat with her as she had a great sense of humour. She was so proud of her children. Wonderful lady. May you find peace and comfort in your memories.

Grandma, may you be at peace knowing you and the queen will be together again. Give qa big hug to Pete for me. Greyson was so lucky to have you as a great grandmother, and Trevor to have you as grandson-in-law. May the gardens in your new resting place be beautiful, and the british flag wave high in the air. God save "my" gracious queen
