Karen Bince (née Metzger)
September 24, 2023
Passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at LHSC – University Hospital on Sunday, September 24, 2023, after a courageous battle with Multiple System Atrophy.
Born in Chester, England, and always a proud Brit, Karen immigrated to Canada with her parents, Laszlo and Lesly Metzger, when she was two years old. Throughout her life, she remained true to her heritage by never missing an episode of Coronation Street with an afternoon cup of tea.
Beloved wife of 50 years to Jim. Together they built a successful business through hard work and sacrifices. They created a life to be admired, founded in love, generosity, and a never-ending commitment to family.
A selfless mother to Lisa (Matt) and Ryan (Sarah), and an ever-loving Nana to Molly, Andrew, Charlotte, Maddy, and Russell. As a mother and grandmother, Karen never missed a performance, sports event, recital, or any opportunity to beam with pride over her children and grandchildren. She was always there for her family when anyone was sick or needed help and never missed a celebration or special occasion.
Karen was a friend to so many. She will be remembered for her caring nature, feistiness, and wit. Anyone who knew her would say how much fun she was – always ready with a joke or story to make people laugh and feel comfortable. Karen and Jim loved entertaining friends and family, welcoming them to their home, cottage, or condo in Florida for parties and fun times. She loved to travel and made many memorable trips throughout her life. But she was happiest in Madeira Beach, FL, where she and Jim have spent their winters escaping the cold.
Heartfelt thanks to London Health Sciences Centre, Henley Place, and the exceptional team at Parkwood Institute, 3BW Complex Care.
Family and friends may join us for a funeral service at Northview Funeral Chapel, 1490 Highbury Avenue North, London, on Sunday, October 1, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will follow the service.

Dear Jim and the entire Bince family We are deeply saddened to hear of Karen’s passing. Karen’s smile was as big as her heart. She was always pleasant, witty and entertaining; it was pleasure to be in her company and a blessing to call her our friend. The world is a better place because Karen was in it. We will miss her tremendously. Sending our condolences and love to you all Tony and Bernice Batten
Sending Heartfelt sympathy to the Bince family. Karen sure had a way to touch hearts. She will be forever missed at the Yacht Club. We can still see her dancing at a COR party. A beautiful person inside and out. May memories help heal the sadness in your hearts.

Jim, Lisa, Ryan and family, Franca and I are deeply saddened by the passing of Karen. She was a beautiful maid of honor for us. An excellent role model as well. We are forever indebted. We will miss her acute sense of humor. Christmas parties was always something we looked forward to. Just can’t help but think she is in a much better place than we find ourselves in. Until we meet again Karen. God bless you.
We send our condolences to all the family. A very difficult time, but may you all know, we grieve with you. Karen was a lovely friend, funny, happy, but could also be serious. Our memories from Red Tail Court, Lyonsview Lane, are now even more precious. We shared very happy times, & they are all cherished. May the Lord be your strength at this time!
We are sending our sincerest condolences to Karen’s family on the news of her passing. Karen was a life-long friend, first meeting as young teenagers in Grade 7, and continued our friendship for over 55 years! We were both so lucky to also share in each others memorable events over the years; our weddings, our first homes, birthdays, vacations and most importantly, our families. Karen was a very special friend … always ready to enjoy a day or evening out. And we could always count on Karen to check out the “dessert menu” first so she could order accordingly and save room for the chocolate cake! Her good sense of humour and enjoyment of life will always be remembered and cherished! Karen will be greatly missed. Our friendship has lasted a lifetime and our memories will continue forever! ❤️
When I think of Karen I picture a party in the Club House Room. Loud live music with all the ladies wildly dancing on the floor. Lots of laughing and talking over each other. In the center there was Karen having a good time. Yes those were happy days and now fond memories to cherish Karen ... Happy days to you til we meet again !!
To the whole family, I am so sorry to hear of Karen's passing. She was always a delight to be around. I will always remember her with a smile. I wish you all the best and hope you get through this difficult time together. Much love to you Karen ❤️
My sincere condolences to Jim and the extended Bince family. Your friendship and generosity is never forgotten. May Karen rest in peace. John Hiemstra

Jim and family sending you my deepest condolences. Karen was my friend for so many years and we had many fun times together. She would light up a room and always had a joke for every occasion. Her memory was incredible. It was hard to watch her struggle, she fought very hard but now she can Rest In Peace. Or maybe she is telling jokes up there 🙏
