Jay, What an impact you had on me as a budding researcher early in my career teaching fundamental techniques and attitudes towards scientific principles. I will always remember our car rides together during my summer internship of 2004 going to farms all over looking for insects and eggs to develop new pest controls. You truly were an inspiration. Thank you for all that you did. My condolences to Karen and the whole Whistlecraft family as you process this loss. All of our love from California. Mike, Margot, Maddie and Hannah

What a guy! Gentle, kind, smart, servant, empathetic, the kind of person I aspire to be. Jay was this person and more. I believe Jay is having a blast in heaven with the God we both believed in . Jay was GOOD! I am saddened that he suffered so much in his final years here and I am saddened for his family but hope that comfort and peace will come to all of you in the days ahead. Honoured to have known him as a treasured famiy member. Cousin Karen chose wisely as did Jaybird!

Jay was a popular high school classmate, kind, courteous and fun. Had I stayed in the St. Thomas area, I hope we would have become lifelong friends. Rest In Peace, my friend.

Jay, you were a good friend and a colleague. In your time, you were the best in Canada at insect production techniques for scientific research. I was privileged to share the lab beside yours. How appropriate that you left us on ‘giving Tuesday’! You gave so much to others including the Food Bank. You will be missed.

I will miss you very much, Jay. You were always so cheerful at work. You always joked with me that I was older than you. It was only two months but you considered that older. You are with Karen now and you are at peace. Keep an eye on all of us down here.
