Ian Alexander McCorquodale

December 5, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ian Alexander McCorquodale on December 5, 2024, after a brave fight with cancer, peacefully at home with his family by his side.

Ian leaves behind his best friend and wife of 56 years, Ruth Ann (née Zimmer).  Loving father to Scott, Mark and Paul; daughters-in-law Lisa and Sofia; adoring grandfather to Harrison, Maryn, Isabella (Maddie) and Alexander; brother of Lynne Frank (dec) (Ted, dec), Charlotte McCorquodale, Catharine Perry (Michael, dec), Mary Enns (Karl).

Born June 4, 1940 to Calvin and Isabella (née Potts) in London, he was raised on Ashland Avenue.  After extensively travelling the world as a young man, he returned to Canada when he met Ruth and they made a life together in Ottawa, Amherstburg, Windsor and eventually back to London where they raised their family for over 40 years.  Devoting his career to teaching and his life to his family, Ian will be remembered by all who met him for his generosity, warmth and gentle personality.

Cremation and a private service has taken place. Memorial donations to the Children’s Health Foundation or to the Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Ian was a lovely man and a delightful and dedicated colleague with whom I had the privilege of working at Banting S. S. May he rest in peace.
