Harvey Granger
September 21, 1935 - September 16, 2021
It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Harvey Granger on September 16, 2021 in his 86th year.
Harvey was the beloved husband of Kathleen Granger (Fishleigh) for over 63 years; father to Kevin (Penny), Warren (Joanne) and Corrie, predeceased in 2017 (Anne); grandfather to Brittany (Adam), Stephanie, Ryan, Courtney, Jordan, Jeremy, Emily and Alison; and great-grandfather to Jackson. Also loved by his many siblings, nephews and nieces, cousins and close friends. Fondly remembered by Doug, Laurie, Sydney, Zachery and Brenda Granger.
Harvey held many roles throughout his life beyond just husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a mechanic, working in the trade for a number of years before being asked to train others as a teacher. He spent his summers travelling and/or fishing. Harvey was a 20-year veteran of the Arva volunteer fire department, rising to the level of co-deputy chief, a dedicated and active 50-year member of the Shriners, including organizing pop can collections and proudly driving the “vehicle” he constructed for the Hillbilly unit, as well as a member of the Kilwinning Masonic Lodge No 64 A.F. & A.M. in London. He lived to serve, and built a legacy of volunteerism and sharing in his family.
Cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be received at Northview Funeral Chapel, 1490 Highbury Avenue North, on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Registration is required as there is limited capacity due to COVID restrictions. To Kay and Family Harvey and I have been friends since 1969, when my family moved to London. We became Fast Friends working together at many Siloam Church functions. We shingled the roof of the Old School, and barbecued MANY chickens through the years. We joined the Shrine at the same time, worked together at many Bingos , and recycled, I’m sure, Millions of pop cans to raise money for the Shrine. We enjoyed a very long friendship, including a trip to the Maritimes with our families. I always considered him a Great Friend, and I’ll sure miss the times we had together.

I first met Harvey when I was in Grade 9 at Westminster S.S.in 1969. Harvey was a brand new automotive teacher, learning the ropes under Jim Higgins. Harvey then became my teacher again when I attended H.B.Beal S.S. for Grade 11 & 12. I also joined the ranks of becoming an automotive teacher in London in 1989 and Harvey was a valued friend and mentor to me and many other new teachers. He could often be see driving around town in his 'Pop can' pick up truck, busy supporting the numerous charities. My condolences to his family, he will be missed by many.
