Donald Clifford Fields

Donald Clifford Fields passed away peacefully March 8, 2025 in his sleep 19 days shy of his 105th birthday. Reunited with his wife June (2019), they were married for 69 wonderful years. Loving father of Doug (Susan), Donna and Susan (John). Cherished grandfather of Christopher, Patrick, Katie, Ryan, Jacob, Joshua, Holly and Jeremy and great grandfather to Mason, Colton, Rory, June, Finn, Betty, Violet and Rebecca. Don has a brother Ernie living in England. He was predeceased by his parents Lawrence and Mabel (nee Countryman) and siblings Marjorie, Laura, Robert, Dorothy, Maxine, James, Glenn and Gail.

Don was born in Windsor, Ontario. His mother died early and he grew up from the age of 4 at Mount St. Joseph’s Orphanage, in London. He enlisted in the army for WWII in 1939 at the age of 19 and served overseas until 1945 in the Signal Corps (RCCS). Don and June loved music and dance. It led to teaching, calling and attending many conferences in Canada and the US making many lifelong friends. Their mutual love of golfing was also another activity which they pursued well into their 90’s. Don was very proud of his gardens and spent many happy hours nurturing his flowers. His greatest passion throughout his life, was education. He was always enrolled in courses or buying reference books. He embraced computers but had a love/hate relationship with them. Don was able to remain in his home until 103 and then was welcomed warmly to the Veterans Care Program at Parkwood Hospital. The family would like to thank the team at 3Kent/Essex for their remarkable care, support and kindness.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. from Northview Funeral Chapel, 1490 Highbury Avenue North, London, with visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
