Carole A. Loft (née Loftus)

February 8, 2025

Passed peacefully with family and her beloved Shih Tzu, Charlie, by her side at her home on Saturday, February 8, 2025, Carole Loft of London, in her 81st year.

Loving mother of Jacquie Fowler (Tim), Sue Mior (Dan), Krissy Marcovecchio and Lynn Marche (Greg). Adored GMa and biggest cheerleader to Allie (Josh), Nick, Madeleine, Grace, Nathan, Luke, Andi, Sydney and Jack.

Predeceased in death by her mother Clara, brothers Bill and Frank Loftus and sister Mary Thomson.

Carole grew up in London and attended Catholic Central Highschool.

There was nothing more important to Carole than her family. As the Matriarch, she led her family with strength and determination. To say she was tough is an understatement. She set the bar high and led by example, right up to the end. Her four daughters and their families were the center of Carole’s universe. One of her favourite memories was a trip to the Dominican Republic with her entire family for her 70th birthday.

Carole enjoyed her “daughter time” which regularly involved cross border shopping and Neil Diamond concerts.  When her family grew to include sons-in-law and grandchildren, she cherished family time together on holidays and at the Mior cottage playing games and sitting by the campfire. Carole had a special gift for creating traditions, like Christmas Eve pajamas and Santa Mouse, that made family holidays unique and memorable.

Carole had a lifelong passion for sewing. What started as a hobby grew into an incredible talent, and in the late 70’s, she opened a fabric store in Byron. Carole shared her entrepreneurial spirit with her daughters and actively involved them in the business. Over the years, she never lost her passion for sewing. It was a labour of love and she delighted in making clothing for her grandkids.

Carole stayed at home with her kids in the formative years. As they grew, Carole went back into the workforce and launched a career as a bookkeeper in several restaurants and businesses in London.  This ultimately led her to Accuride Canada where she spent the next 35 years enjoying a successful and rewarding career.  Carole was always grateful for the opportunities she was given and the incredible people she met at Accuride. While she officially retired at 65, she found great joy and fulfillment in the work and continued in a consulting capacity until late 2024.

In 2021, Carole moved to Stoney Creek Grove in North London to be closer to two of her daughters.  There she found a welcoming community and a group of people with similar interests, people who would become her dear friends. She cherished the Book Club “gals”, the ladies Thursday afternoon get-togethers in the garage, Friday happy hours on the green and the annual Canada Day celebration. Her family is so grateful for the friendships and happiness she found in this amazing community.

Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received by the family on Saturday, February 15th 2025 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Northview Funeral Chapel and Cremation Centre, 1490 Highbury Avenue North, London, to be followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Carole are asked to consider Diabetes Canada or the Verspeeten Family Cancer Center.

My condolences to the family of Carole. She was the last member of a wonderful Loftus family, particularly her Mother, that were so good to my parents when they moved into St Patrick's Parish. Her siblings, Bill, Frank and Mary, along with Carole, took on their Mother's caring ways and passed these on to their families. May God Bless Carole and her family at this difficult time and all of us keep them in our thoughts and prayers.
