Antony Nicholas Gremaud
April 8, 2025
On Tuesday, April 8th, 2025, Antony Nicholas Gremaud, affectionately known as Tony or Tone, peacefully passed away after a courageous and lengthy battle with cancer, surrounded by family and loved ones. Throughout his journey, he showed unwavering faith, believing in the goodness of God even during difficult times.
Tony was a devoted husband to Judy for 29 years, a loving father to Madeleiene (Madie), a cherished son to Patricia and Guido Gremaud, a caring brother to Chris and his wife Jodi, and a wonderful uncle to Brandon, Ethan, and Caleb. He was predeceased by his sister, Heidi Durling, and he was also a beloved brother-in-law to his sister’s husband, Mark Durling.
While we deeply grieve his loss and will miss him greatly, we take comfort in knowing he is now free and healed in Heaven. A celebration of life will be held in the near future to honour Tony and acknowledge the positive impact he had on so many lives.

On behalf of the Fanshawe College Retirees’ Association, our condolences are extended to Tony’s family and friends. He was a professor/chair for General Studies and then Associate Dean of Language and Liberal Studies.
Tony was my N+1 at Fanshawe College. He never said no to a constructive idea if it was at all possible for him to say yes. He was an wellspring of collegial support and advice; he knew how to make things happen, with consequence and speed. As an admin, he was puissant; yet, humble and genial. It was wonderful to work for and with him. But, above all, Tony was my friend. One needed to know him but a moment to be touched by his kindness. He was willing to walk leagues in others’ shoes. His heed was genuine, his empathy authentic; even his banter was unfailingly jolly. All conversations with Tony ended with a shared laugh and chuckle. He just didn’t seem to know another way to part. Rest in peace, Tony. You will always be a friend, and your memory will always make me smile.
I'm heartbroken to hear that Tony was sick and has passed away. He was an ideal colleague. I'll never forget his playful smile. I didn't have many opportunities to spend time privately with Tony, but I always enjoyed it when I was in a conversation with him. We played hockey together and I survived taking a pass from Tony on my shin! Gosh, he was such a good player. My slapshot really sucked and Tony helped me improve it, some. So sad!
