Paul Gordon Walmsley
March 18, 2025
In Debbie, Paul, and Jenna’s own words:
“Sadly, I lost my best friend and the love of my life. Paul loved his family unconditionally. He was there for all of our important moments, especially the birth of our first grandson, Blake. We were later blessed with Dominic and Niya, and he adored them beyond words.”
“Thank you, Dad, for all the years of memories that we get to cherish and carry with us.”
Paul Gordon Walmsley – After a lengthy illness, Paul passed away at the age of 76 on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Victoria Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Paul will be deeply missed by his devoted wife and best friend, Deborah (Byrne) Walmsley. He was greatly loved, respected, and admired by his children, Paul Walmsley and Jenna (Brent) Simpson. He will also be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Blake, Dominic, and Niya, whom he absolutely adored. Paul was the beloved brother of Dave (Wendy) Walmsley and brother-in-law to Keith (Lucille) Byrne, Kevin (Ivy) Byrne, Denise (Bob) Robblee, and John (Julie) Byrne. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Brooklyn (2010), his parents Cecil and Leah Walmsley, his parents-in-law Jack and Teresa Byrne, and his sister Carol Sheehan, sisters in law Delores Cooke, and Diane Coulter. Paul leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will fondly remember him. Paul was an incredible man who never needed much—he simply wanted his family to be happy. He loved them dearly. He was known for his great conversations, his love of oldies music, and his appreciation for a good book.
Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of Paul’s life will be held on Sunday, April 13, 2025 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Dorchester Legion, 1227 Donnybrook Drive, Dorchester, Ontario.

As most people know, Paul worked at Simpsons for years, and I can recall fondly going to the store downtown with my Mom and visiting him many times there. Later he moved to the White Oaks Mall location and I went to see him every time I was at the mall. I really looked up to him when I was a kid, and I will remember him as having one of the greatest senses of humour. Rest easy, Uncle.
