Keith Douglas Butler

January 9, 1961 - January 7, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Keith Douglas Butler on January 7th, 2025.

Keith was the proud father of three daughters: Sarah, Amanda, and Nicole Butler. He is survived by his mother Mary Shoemaker and stepfather John Shoemaker. He was a cherished sibling to his five brothers and sisters: Robert, Leesa, Sharon, Bruce, and Beverley. Keith was a much-loved uncle to many nieces and nephews, Alex, Ryan, Scott, John, Jenny, Krista, Tristan, Kayla, Seth, Hannah, Natalie, and Zeta.

Keith loved going to the shooting range, watching true crime documentaries, and he was a die-hard Toronto Maple Leafs fan. He enjoyed simple pleasures like his daily double-double Tim Hortons coffee and trips to the flea market to find a good bargain. He had a passion for vehicles, and he took long trips on the many motorcycles he owned throughout his life. He spent more than ten years as a professional bus driver for Greyhound before studying social work at Western University as a mature student. Keith was an avid reader who could recite Bible scripture verbatim.

Keith was a man of strong convictions and passionate opinions. While his bold views could sometimes challenge others, those who loved him loved him deeply for his authenticity and steadfastness. Keith relished a good debate and never shied away from standing up for what he believed in.

He was a man of his word, with a strength of character that ran as deep as the roots of an oak tree—unmovable even in the fiercest of storms. Keith’s protective nature knew no bounds when it came to his family and children; he always had their backs and stood firmly by their side. In lieu of flowers, Keith’s daughters kindly request that you honor his memory by performing an act of kindness for someone in need or contributing to a cause close to your heart.

Rest easy Keith. You will be greatly missed.
