Jeannine Gignac
November 9, 2023
Our beloved mother Jeannine was not just a mother, she was our guiding star. On Thursday, November 9, 2023, surrounded by her children, she gracefully departed this earthly realm, leaving behind a legacy of love and light. She was the cornerstone of our family, the one who lit up our lives with her unwavering love, compassion and wisdom. She held us close during our darkest nights and guided us through the stormy seas of life. Her love was boundless, her support unending, and her embrace the safest place in the world. As children we were blessed to call her our mother, she taught us the power of kindness and the beauty of selflessness, and the strength of unity.
Predeceased by her husband Ovide, her granddaughter Caroline and son-in-law Jerry. Jeannine leaves behind her son Gilbert (Jennifer), her daughters Murielle (Gord), Denise (Jerry), her sons Daniel, Jerome (Jackie) and her daughter Nicole (Tod). Remembered by 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 1great-great-grandchild. Also survived by her sister Gislaine and many nieces and nephews.

I met Jeannine while vacationing in Punta Cana, nearly 15 years ago. We became instant friends, and shared wonderful times during that trip. Jeannine was an amazing, graceful woman, so full of life, love and laughter. I will miss our phone calls, her wisdom, quick wit and our laughs. I am so fortunate to have met Jeannine, and to have had her friendship. My deepest condolences to the Gignac family. Cindy Elkin, friend from Manitoba

Jeannine was a force. I believe her positive attitude and large, close family contributed to her living such a long and good life. Jeannine was always busy baking, entertaining family who dropped in for a visit or attending family milestone events. Family was very important to her and brought her great joy. After our choir days, I enjoyed periodic telephone chats with Jeannine to catch up on the latest news. We just had a choir reunion in Jeannine’s lovely backyard this past August. So happy we did! She will be missed by all. We were lucky to have known her! My sincere condolences to her family. Cherish your memories.
What a wonderful obituary - you certainly captured the essence of Jeanine. Jeanine was a member of the former St Patrick's folk choir for many years. We enjoyed singing with her, her friendship, her backyard choir gatherings and listening to the stories of her travels visiting her extended family. We were always in awe of her attitude towards life and her unending grit & determination in getting things done - I can only hope to be as spry as her when I'm 95 yrs old! To Jeanine's family ... please accept my deepest sympathy on the loss of such an admirable woman who not soon be forgotten 💕.
