To Debbie's loved ones, I worked with Debbie at Huron and I can say with all sincerity that I am who I am today because of Debbie. She took a chance on hiring me as a brand new academic advisor. Debbie showed me the important impact that academic advisors can have on students. She modelled compassion, resilience, dedication, and perseverance through truly challenging circumstances. It was also clear to those of us who had the opportunity to work with Debbie that she was deeply committed to her family, and she absolutely lit up with pride when she spoke about her grandchildren Julia and Simon. The world is better for having had Debbie in it.
Debbie was a childhood friend..... needless to say, this spanned many, many years! I will miss her kindness, her wit and most of all, her ability to always connect when it was most needed! Rest easy my friend. I will miss our impromptu conversations!
I worked with Debbie for many years at the University and she was such a passionate person, who took such pride in being able to assist students as they navigated their way through their academic life. She was compassionate and focused wanting each of them to reach their full potential. She was a remarkable person and will be truly missed.
Debbie was my academic advisor as a student throughout my undergrad at Huron, and she was always incredibly helpful, and attentive to the many concerns I had as a young person navigating the "real-world" for the first time. It is fair to say that without her guidance I very well would have taken a very different path in life, and I am grateful for that support. I am very sorry to hear this news, and my heartfelt condolences to the entire family.
As Director of Writing Services at Huron University College, I worked with Debbie for fifteen years in the Student Services area. It was wonderful to watch her with students: she was methodical, thorough, and honest in her dealings with them, and always helpful. As a colleague she was dedicated and hard working, but she had her fun side too. She loved the occasional Christmas challenges that the Administrative Services engaged in. The Gingerbread House competition was fiercely fought, and Debbie was our champion with her tools and her creative ideas --- I still have a (rather tattered) picture of our team with our decorated gingerbread house. I bought a couple of her delicately quirky birdhouses, and loved her stories of her grandchildren of whom she was very proud. She was also brave --- continuing to work even when she was in physical distress. It was good to keep up with her via Facebook after we retired. I shall miss her.
Dear friends and family of Debbie: I worked with Debbie at Huron for several years and always enjoyed her company and appreciated her dedication to the institution and her students. I'm very sad to hear of her passing. Please accept my condolences on your loss.

My sincere condolences for your loss. I worked with Debbie at Huron for her entire time here and remember her as a wonderful, kind, funny person who was dedicated to helping students. I have particularly fond memories of her going around in her Santa hat and ugly Christmas sweater collecting donations to support a family over Christmas. She loved her grandchildren very much and spoke of them often. Any time I ever saw Debbie outside of Huron, she was with her grand kids and loved every minute of it. We miss you Debbie.
