Terrence “Terry” Wayne Hill

September 20, 2023

On September 20, 2023, while surrounded by family, Terry Hill’s long and tiring journey with Parkinson’s ended.

Born in London, Ontario on June 23, 1944 to the late Blanche (née Sutherland) and Jack Hill.

He leaves behind his loving wife Ruth (née Broadfoot) of 58 years; his cherished daughters Terri Lynn MacKay (Mike) and Ann Marie Stewart; his beloved grandchildren Christopher, Matthew, Madison, Rachel (Nick) and Lauren. He is survived by his brother Mark (Cheryl), brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Terry was a gentle, kind and caring man. He started his career with Steen Mechanical and in time started Glover Hill with his partner Sy. In 1987 he opened his company Tartan Mechanical Inc. and after 30 years, Terry retired, giving him the time to enjoy traveling with his wife, family and friends.

He was a Past Master of King Solomon No. 394 Thamesford, a member of St Paul’s Lodge No. 107 Lambeth, a member of Mocha Shrine, and a Past President of the Director’s Staff.

His life was filled with a love of art, music, travel, telling long stories and gardening. Sitting on the deck at the cottage that he and his wife turned into a beautiful and long-lasting family meeting spot — Terry would enjoy a good Gin and Tonic while sitting back to watch the biggest love of his life, his family, while they sang, danced, played, laughed and loved in the Lake Huron sun.

He will be forever missed — but can always be found in a good song, a Guinness from The Waltzing Weasel, or in a blooming geranium.

“You are the wind beneath my wings.”

Cremation has already taken place. A Masonic service will be held under the auspices of St. Paul’s Lodge No. 107 A.F. and A.M. at Northview Funeral Chapel, 1490 Highbury Avenue North, London, on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at 10:30 a.m., followed by visitation from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., where the memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations towards the Shriners Hospitals for Children, or the Parkinson Society Southwestern Ontario.

I send my deepest sympathy in this time of sorrow. The Bible promises that your loved one will live again on a beautiful paradise earth when death will be no more. (John 5:28, 29; Revelation 21:4)
