Kathleen ‘Kay’ Donna Marie Granger
February 7, 2022
Passed away rather unexpectedly on Monday, February 7, 2022 in her 87th year. She was predeceased by her parents, Amerson and Lanore Fishleigh, as well as her husband of over 63 years in September, 2021; and by her son, Corrie in January 2017. She leaves behind to celebrate her life, sons: Kevin (Penny) and Warren (Joanne) as well as Corrie’s wife, Anne. In addition, she was grandmother to Brittany (Adam), Stephanie, Ryan, Courtney, Jordan, Jeremy, Emily and Alison and great-grandmother to Jackson. Also loved by her siblings Harold (Elaine) and Harvey (Lynn) and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Fondly remembered by Doug, Laurie, Sydney, Zachery and Brenda (Ian) Granger.
Following the peaceful passing of Harvey, she was just beginning a new life at Dorchester Terrace, fully committing to a wonderful world of new friends, activities and community, in addition to being pampered with meals and attention. While there were a few times that such activities were limited, she explored every opportunity to meet new residents, learn new skills and share her talents with others, allowing her to quickly make friends and an impact during her short stay. Prior to the move to Dorchester Terrace, she spent countless hours at Siloam United Church participating in the choir, was a founding member of Siloam’s Rose Birrell Group, organized quilting bees as well as craft sales and other activities. At home, her baking was legendary with multiple pies and peanut butter cookies provided each week for quick consumption along with various other baked offerings, jams and an assortment of canned goods, and a continuous attempt at new crafts, quilts and other decorations that now adorn the homes of her family. Memories will be as easy to recall by simply reflecting on how some of her crafts were created as there were always stories attached to each of them.

I got to know Kay as a member of the London Sewing Circle, a club in the Daughters of the Nile. She was a sweet lady and enjoyed our monthly meetings and our live auction. She will be missed. RIP Kay.

I remember your mother Kay from the time I spent at Siloam in the early 80s. There is a kindness I will always remember--Kay drove me home after a very scary incident where I was almost hit by a motorcycle near your parents' farm. She was so calm and so reassuring. It was such a balm. And I am sure she lived her entire life extending kindness to all. I was just catching up with an old friend and learned of her death--and also of your dad and Corrie. Corrie was just a child when I knew him. I recall his radiant smile.
